What is it about?
Anthony de Mello touches on many topics that all relate to the grand theme of love. He talks about attachment, happiness, awareness, and more in a way that will bring you peace.
My favourite parts
This was the second time I’ve read this book. The first time, the aspect of awareness spoke to me the most. But this time, attachment and happiness spoke more to me.
Attachment is a very interesting topic, as I feel it is somewhat of an overused term now. Anthony describes it as an emotional state of clinging caused by the belief that without some particular thing or some person, you cannot be happy.
I love how he dives into attachment. He really emphasizes that your attachments are caused by your own beliefs. By seeing them for what they are, you can break them down and release yourself from attachments.
It really made me feel like you can be happy with absolutely nothing but yourself. An important lesson.
Who should read it?
Everyone would find value in this book. However, those who are struggling to love themselves or have found themselves very anxious will make the best use of it.
Additional thoughts
