What is it about?
Osho explores misery, unhappiness, happiness, joy, and bliss. Throughout the book, he explains how to enter a joyful state and what the difference is between joy and the rest.
In order to help you understand joy, he also explains the complications the ego causes, the importance of meditation, and why it all matters in the first place.
My favourite parts
While the entire book is great, I especially enjoyed it when he talks about pushing through boredom in order to get to an enlightened state. His whole deep dive on boredom is excellent and the perfect topic for the modern world, since people fear it.
I also love how he explains that happiness is our natural state. The only reason we don’t stay there is because of man-made stresses. We are too busy in the future or the past to reside in the natural state.
Who should read it?
I believe this book is fantastic for anyone struggling to be by themselves or to enjoy their own company. It helps break down why you need to stop distracting yourself and really let go of who you think you are supposed to be.
Additional thoughts
This is another one of those books that leaves a smile on your face as you read it. It is just a pleasant book with its humour and insights.
