What is it about?

Lee Kuan Yew, the founder of Singapore, tells the story of its birth up until the year 2000. He goes through international relations, tensions, battles with communism, and numerous other interesting stories through the growth of Singapore.

Singapore is looked up to by many for how clean it is, its high GDP per capita, and how fast it grew. This book explains how Lee Kuan Yew got Singapore to where it is today.

My favourite parts

This book was highly informative when it came to learning about the international relations with our countries in the region. I loved learning about how differently each nation operates and what challenges it had with each one.

I especially enjoyed learning about how, despite tensions with communism, China came around and sought Lee Kuan Yew to help with the development of some cities. His results spoke for themselves, regardless of political differences.

Who should read it?

If you are looking for a history, geopolitics, Singapore, communism, or international affairs lesson, this book will be useful to you.

There is something to be said about how he grew Singapore from 0 to where it is now. For this reason, most entrepreneurs can take lessons from here.

Additional thoughts

While this book was amazing, I bet it was even better at the time it came out. Many of his predictions proved to be quite accurate. I love that
