5 Books You Need to Read to Get Your Life In Order
Books that will guide you through chaos
Your life has a way of becoming chaotic from time to time. Life goes up and down, no matter who you are.
What matters most is what you do when this chaos comes back.
Will you let negativity and failure take over, or will you push through to climb to a higher peak?
These 5 books are must-reads to get your life back on track, and your head in the right place!
1. How to Live by Derek Sivers
Everyone has different advice for how to live your life. Their advice will depend on what worked for them, their culture, environment, age, and a bunch of other factors.
This book is essentially a compilation of different answers to how to live.
Many of the answers contradict each other, but as you are reading them, you will discover an obvious truth.
Anything can work; the proper approach depends on you.
But life is also a balance between every approach. Different times and problems may require different approaches.
I found this book comforting because when life gets out of hand (which it often can), it is a reminder that there are numerous paths to return to your happy place.

2. Principles by Ray Dalio
Few people in this world have life figured out in the way that Ray Dalio does.
It seems as if each area of his life is doing well. He’s truly someone to look up to in that regard.
This is why this book is great. It is all about the principles he follows to live a successful life all around.
To sum up hundreds of pages in a couple of short sentences is difficult, but let me try.
Ray’s emphasis is on accepting reality, making better decisions, and being transparent and truthful.
He outlines this approach, and if you execute it properly, you will find success (and happiness) all around.
When your life is not in order, this book will help you go back to the basics, straightforward principles and help you pull it back together.
Give it a read!

3. The Almanack of Naval Ravikant by Eric Jorgenson
One of the people I look up to the most in the world is Naval Ravikant.
The reasoning is quite simple: He’s successful, at peace, happy, has a great family, and lives the life of his choice on his own time.
His life is truly one to admire.
As the subtitle says, this book is a guide to wealth and happiness. And who better to learn from than Naval?
While reading this book, you’ll realize that it is in your best interest to compound in all areas of life.
The truth is, wealth and happiness are skills that can be learned through specific knowledge, smart leverage, mindset shifts, and true self-awareness.
Not only will this book help get your life in order, but you’ll feel good while reading it.
“All real benefits come from compound interest, including in relationships and self-improvement.” - Naval

4. Discipline is Destiny by Ryan Holiday
Often, your life ends up off the rails because you were lacking discipline.
Perhaps things got too easy, or maybe you just started coasting through your day-to-day, not focused on what is important.
It’s okay, it happens. But when it goes, you need to reestablish this discipline.
That’s where this book comes in.
It is all about the importance of discipline and how to implement it in your life, while sharing perfect examples, convincing you that it is the right decision.

5. 12 Rules for Life by Jordan B. Peterson
This book’s subtitle is literally “An Antidote to Chaos”. This book was written for those who need to get their life in order.
Full disclosure, when I first read this book, it was during COVID. My life was a mess, and this book was one of the main reasons I was able to pick myself up.
It can do the same for you.
Jordan Peterson, of course, gets a lot of mixed press and understandably so. I would encourage you to look past that when reading this book, as the fundamental ideas behind the rules are great.

Closing thoughts
It’s perfectly normal for life to turn into a mess. That’s inevitable.
When it does get messy, that’s when you need to prove to yourself who you are and what you can do.
Are you someone who folds?
Or are you someone who does what needs to be done, gets up, and comes out on top?
These books will help you be one of those who win.
